• Started career with SA Transport Services in 1973 as Junior Engineer Construction and was subsequently appointed as District Engineer Maintenance in Windhoek, Regional Engineer for Saldanha and later for Cape Town.
• Became Deputy Regional Manager (Western Cape) of Spoornet in 1990, Chief Civil Engineer in 1995 and Chief Engineer Infrastructure in 1996..
• Received the Spoornet Infinity Award for Road Rail Vehicle Maintenance Project and Productivity Improvements, the RSA Productivity Award Silver in 1989 and with BKS, SAACE’s Gold Medal for outstanding design. .
• Author of various papers in the field of railway engineering and speaker at railway related conferences around the world.
