Research officer with National Institute for Road Research of the CSIR from 1959 to 1965 doing research on soil stabilization for roads and airfields.
Joined Hill Kaplan Scott and Parkins, Consulting Engineers in Cape Town in 1966 and established the firm�s geotechnical laboratory. Appointed a Director of Hill Kaplan Scott and Parkins in 1971 and Managing Director in 1977.
President of SAACE in 1993. Served as member of the Environmental Task Committee of the International Association of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). Past Chairman of the Conference on Asphalt Pavements for Southern Africa (CAPSA).
