Director of Centre of Material and Process Engineering School of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering, University of the Witwatersrand.
  • Started career as Process Engineer at Sastech, SASOL in 1984.
  • Appointed Senior Lecturer in Department of Metallurgy at Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education in 1985.
  • Appointed Senior Lecturer in Department of Chemical Engineering, University of the Witwatersrand in 1988.
  • Director of Centre of Material and Process Synthesis, University of the Witwatersrand since 1999.
  • Appointed Unilever Professor of Chemical Engineering in 1998 as well as a 20 per cent appointment as Professor of Process Synthesis at the University of Twente, The Netherlands.
  • Received the Presidents' Award of the Foundation for Research and Development and the Distinguished Researcher Award of the University of the Witwatersrand in 1996, the Meiring Naude Medal of the Royal Society of South Africa in 1997, the Bill Neale-May gold Medal of the South African Institute of Chemical Engineers in 2000 and the Vice Chancellor of the University of the Witwatersrand’s Researcher of the year Award in 2002
