• Lecturer in Electronics Engineering at University of Potchefstroom from 1978 to 1979.
• Consecutively Lectuer and Senior Lecturer at the University of Pretoria from 1980 to 1983.
• Project Manager and Divisional Manager at Armscor from 1984 to 1987 where he established the Technology Management Division.
• Marketing Director of Lambda Technology (Pty) Ltd, a high-tech upstart, in 1988.
• Founded DataFusion systems (Pty) Ltd and served as founder CEO from 1989 to 1999 during which time it grew into a R100 m high-tech company, employing 300 people. The company specialized in Voice Technology and became the South African Market leader in its field. He also served on the board of Spescom Ltd.
• Founder CEO of BrainWorks Management (Pty) Ltd since 2000. BrainWorks provides strategic management services to fast-growing, high-tech companies. Services include Strategy Development, Product Development and Leadership Coaching.
• Was part of the founding team of the Innovation Hub, Founder of the Innovation Hub Incubator and co-founder of the IT Coachlab, established the BrainWorks Technology Incubator, and founded the BrainWorks Virtual Incubator that provides business mentoring to a portfolio of businesses. Currently actively involved as co-founder member of SASNi (a South African Sensor Network Initiative) aimed at stimulating the development of sensory network technologies in South Africa.
• Received the Old Mutual Medal for best MBA student in 1983 and several awards made to DataFusion as category winner in the annual Technology Top 100 competition.
• Serves on the board of a number of high-tech companies, including Parsec (Pty) Ltd, Poynting Antennas (Pty) Ltd , Pragma (Pty) Ltd and Trispen Technologies (Pty) Ltd.
• Currently studying towards his M.Phil(Theology).
