KRÖGER, Detlev Gustav,

Senior Researcher, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Stellenbosch.
  • Started career with South African Iron and Steel Corporation as Research Engineer.
  • Was appointed Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch in 1968 and as Professor in 1971, served as Chairman of the Department in 1974 and 1983 and has been working as Senior Researcher and Emeritus Professor in the Department since 1999.
  • Has lectured as visiting professor at the Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA in the USA and at three universities in Germany
  • Director of the Bureau for Mechanical Engineering, B.M.I. Stellenbosch and of the Institute for Thermodynamics and Mechanics (ITM).
  • Member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the South African Institution of Mechanical Engineering.
  • Has received the Thomas Price Award, the Campbell-Pitt Award and the Silver Medal of the South African Institution of Mechanical Engineering, the Dreosti Award of the South African Institute of Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning, the Havenga Award of the South African Academy of Arts and Sciences and the SA Chemical Processing Award of the South African Institute of Chemical Engineers.
  • Research, consulting and teaching in the fields of development, modification and performance evaluation and of cooling systems for power, petro-chemical, process and mining plants in South Africa and internationally.
