JOUBERT, Johan,

B Eng (Electronics), MEng (Electronics), PhD (Electronic Eng).
Professor in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering, University of Pretoria. Specialist field is electromagnetism, and the design and analysis of microwave antennas and components.
  • Started career as Design Engineer with NIAST at the CSIR in 1984.
  • Appointed Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering at the University of Pretoria in 1989 and was subsequently promoted to Associate Professor and Professor.
  • Served as consultant to LGI, RE@UP and BE@UP since 1989.
  • Received a Best Paper Award at the IEEE/SAIEE AP/MTT Symposium in 1990, an Outstanding Academic Achiever Award from the University of Pretoria in 1999 and 2002, a Mellon Foundation Award with a doctoral student in 2000-2002 and has been rated an internationally recognized researcher by the National Research Foundation.
  • Was the main organizer of the 1991 IEEE/SAIEE AP/MTT Symposium, has been Chairman of the South African AP/MTT Chapter of the IEEE since 1999 and acted as session chairman at several south African IEEE/SAIEE AP/MTT symposia as well as the 1999 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference.
  • Author and co-author of numerous articles published in accredited engineering journals and regularly gives presentations at local and international conferences
